Michael Kenny

Michael was born in Birmingham, England to Irish parents. He took Irish step dance for 13 years and had a successful competitive career, garnering several regional titles and placing third at the All Ireland, Worlds and Great Britain Championships.

In 1993 Michael received his T.C.R.G. from An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha in Dublin and opened The Kenny Academy in The Irish Centre, Birmingham. During the Kenny Academy’s 21 years, they won numerous awards in both solo and team events at The World Championships, The Midlands Oireachtas , All Irelands, Great Britians, British Nationals, American Nationals, All Scotland and European Championships.

Beyond the results, The Kenny Academy  was active in community pursuits.  Its annual
feis raised £65,000 sterling for Cystic Fibrosis, a charity very close to Michael's heart.

Now located in Massachusetts, Michael has a wealth of experience to offer, having taught Irish Dance as his full time occupation since 1993. His mission is to continue to pass on the traditional art of Irish dance to his students on the North and South Shore, as he did in Birmingham for so long.
